Tears, emotions fill the air as Iran repatriates bodies of 11 Ukrainian victims of shot down plane

– Ukranian victims of the Iran plane which was shot down on January 8 have been repatriated to Ukraine

– The bodies of the 11 victims landed at the Kyiv’s Boryspil International Airport in Ukraine on Sunday, January 19 in a military aircraft

– Also, a hearse waited at the airport to convey the bodies to an undisclosed location ahead of a funeral ceremony expected to take place on Monday, January 20

Eleven Ukranian citizens who died onboard the Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 mistakenly shot down by the Iranian government on January 8, have been repatriated to Ukraine.

Aljazeera reports that the bodies were returned to Ukraine as government officials, relatives and families of those killed in the aircraft during the heat of the face-off between the United States of America and Iran gathered at the Kyiv’s Boryspil International Airport in Ukraine.

Also present at the airport is President Volodymyr Zelenskyy who looked as coffins carrying the bodies of the victims of the accident were covered in Ukrainian flags.

A hearse also waited at the Boryspil International Airport, east of the capital, Kyiv to convey the bodies to an undisclosed location ahead of a funeral ceremony expected to take place on Monday, January 20.

At the airport, relatives of the deceased were seen holding flowers as airline officials – some of them in tears – was waiting at the tarmac.

Also present at the airport are Ukranian prime minister Oleksiy Goncharuk and other officials.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that all 179 passengers were killed on board a Boeing 737-800 which transiting from Tehran to Kyiv and mistakenly shot down by the Iranian government.

Also, in an emotional admittance, the government of Iran said its military made an “unforgivable mistake” in unintentionally shooting down a Ukrainian jetliner.

Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani, said that armed forces’ internal investigation has concluded that missiles regrettably fired due to human error caused the horrific crash of the Ukrainian plane and death of 176 innocent people.
